my absolute favorite thing about photography is getting to form a relationship with my amazing clients + watch their story unfold – Lowrey and Michael’s farmhouse wedding is the ultimate illustration of this, and I am so grateful to have been a part of their special day.
I first met Lowrey’s parents when a real estate developer that I shoot for asked me to go photograph their home in Oak Ridge, NC. It was their old family farmhouse that they had moved across the street and made a few modifications to, while still keeping the structure and many elements original to the house intact. I instantly fell in love with them, and could have stayed talking on the porch with Mr. and Mrs. Harton for hours. While shooting one of the rooms (featured below with Lowrey and the wooden dresser), I saw a wedding dress hanging and remarked on what a perfect wedding photo that would be.
Well, the conversation progressed, and it turned out that they were indeed having a wedding there. One thing led to another, and they asked me to be the photographer! I knew, without even meeting Lowrey + Michael, that we were going to be a perfect fit and that their day was absolutely one I wanted to capture. Of course, I met them both soon after and discovered that yes, we were a great match. Here are a few of my favorite moments from their wedding weekend on their gorgeous family farm.
Something blue: Lowrey’s shoes and wildflowers fit in perfectly with the vintage theme of the wedding.
The festivities, which took place over the course of two days, perfectly illustrated how to have an amazing at-home wedding. The intimate, family-only ceremony on Friday was followed by a larger celebration with friends on Saturday.
The reception featured homemade cake, scrumptious food catered by The Painted Plate, and a live band.
